History in the Making!

A virus that started in China slowly made its way to the US. In the middle of March, the president started to address the country about the dangers of Covid-19, the symptoms, and how quickly it spread. States started to practice social distancing and soon after, the Governor called for a shut down of all non-essential workers. This also included the closure of schools, as they were being called "soft" closures. We stopped having the kids come to school on Thursday, March 19. This continued until the end of the school year. The social distancing order and closure of non-essential businesses stayed in place until April 30. This caused a lot of trouble for self-employed and small businesses. I was still asked to come in each day and do distance learning with my students. We prepped work for them, their parents came in once a week to switch out work, and every Friday, we drove around to their homes to take them a special treat of some sort. It is something that will always be remembered. Our school put together this photo of all our teachers. Bonnie, Cheri, Josie, CJ, & Grandma took a photo for a local contest and they won 1st place.
